DEATH OF MR WILLIAM H. F. OLLIS

A founder member of Hertford Old Contemptibles Association, Mr William Henry Francis (Bill) Ollis, of 14 Highfield Road, Hertford, died suddenly at his home last Friday. He was 64.

During the First World War he served with the Royal Artillery. He served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War.

Mr Ollis has lived at Hertford for about 34 years. He was a partner in the jewellery business of Evan Marks, Fore Street, Hertford.

He was a member of the Hertfordshire Branch of the Royal Naval Association and of Hertford Cricket Club. He gave monologues at concerts in the Hertford area.

He is survived by his wife, a son, and daughter.

A funeral service was conducted by the Rev. P. F. L. Burges at All Saints’ Church, Hertford, on Monday.

Immediate mourners were: Mrs D. E. Ollis, wife; Mr L. Ollis, brother; Miss M. Ollis, sister; Mr and Mrs S. Randolph, brother-in-law and sister; Mr J. Ollis, son; Miss Mary Ollis, daughter.
