Hertford Branch Report: The Old Contemptible – No. 405, October 1967

The Old Contemptible – No. 405, October 1967

HERTFORD           Another “Paddy’s Pageant” has come and gone at the home of the British Army, Aldershot, and as it customary the usual good show and organisation was well maintained. Even the weather came up trumps, after a full days’ soaking the day before. Good show Paddy! I should have said “What is left of the ‘Shot”. One walked round trying to locate the areas of our undetected “crimes?” of fifty-plus years, only to find the bulldozer had removed even that memory. Progress!

Our monthly meetings maintain a steady quota of the usual old faithful attending. One Chum in hospital, but getting on well, three others keeping cheerful despite set-backs in bodily structure. As in 1914 it is still “chin up!” Our Editor is a shining example of how to carry on, with his many offices.

Here’s wishing all Chums everywhere good health and fortune, and all our officers health and strength to carry on their good work to the end. (I nearly wrote “bitter” end, I don’t mind if I do!). Cheerio.

“BUSTER.”
