Hertford Branch Report: The Old Contemptible – No. 485, June 1974

The Old Contemptible – No. 485, June 1974

HERTFORD           We as a Branch still manage to function but our attendance is getting to be very small.

On March 15th we held our A.G.M. with nine members present and two visitors from our friends the Herts. Branch Royal Naval Association with whom we have worked in close association for many years.

Our Secretary/Treasurer Chum Brown (Buster) resigned office owing to serious illness from which he has been suffering since last December and although he is still in hospital I am pleased to say he is much improved. Our Chairman also resigned due to ill health so we have had to elect new officers. Chum W. Hills was elected Chairman and I took on the Secretary/Treasurer’s office.

Our average attendance to monthly meetings is six, quite a few are housebound, six live some distance from Hertford and those who can get to meetings depend on buses (when they run). We are arranging to take part in the Jubilee celebrations and are making the trip to Aldershot accompanied by a party of Chums from St Albans.

As the new scribe I think this will do for a first attempt. A speedy recovery to all sick Chums and best wishes to all Chums everywhere.

S. DITTON, 2072, 1st Herts.
