OLD CONTEMPTIBLES’ PARADE

The Long Eaton Branch of the Old Contemptibles’ Association was represented at Nottingham on Sunday, when the Lord Mayor of Nottingham (Ald. E. A. Braddock) and Colonel A. H. Mitchell, President of the West Bridgford Branch of the British Legion took the salute at the Council House. The occasion was the annual church parade of the Old Contemptibles’ Association. A service was held at High Pavement Chapel.

Stapleford and Sandiacre News – 26 June 1943

Always a welcome visitor among the members of the Long Eaton Old Contemptibles’ Association is Regimental Sergeant Major A. B. Leivers, M.M., who is now serving in England with an administration section of The Green Howards. He is at the moment enjoying a few days’ leave and Mr A. J. Sheppard (organising Secretary of the Long Eaton Branch of the Old Contemptibles’ Association) told us during a chat the other day that R.S.M. Leivers will be visiting Long Eaton on Sunday morning. He hopes to meet as many local Old Contemptibles as are able to be present at the routine meeting of the Association at the Blue Bell Inn. It should be a happy reunion.
